Go Big Red!

Today was Quincy's Superbowl Party at her Daycare and she had nothing to wear! Soooo, I was up until the wee hours last night creating a Cardinals outfit for her. I know, I know. A little over the top? Well, what can I say? I just LOVE creating things. Here are the pics I managed to squeeze in this morning. She wouldn't stay still for a second so I can 't believe I even managed to get some in focus. She's ready for Sunday!

Notice the hair clips aren't working out so well?

Here are some more photos of her in her "school dress". Her Great Grandma Vargo got her this dress for Christmas so I just had to take some pictures of her in it.

A Cure for Bedhead?

Well, probably not, but it's worth a try. I spent night last night hot-gluing hair clips for Quincy in an effort to make it look like I do something with her hair. It is always so out of control and I have a weird phobia of putting it in a rubber band for fear I will pinch her brain or something. It is finally reaching the length that it needs some serious taming! Just thought I'd share my efforts. By making them I figure I won't freak out so much when she pulls it out and drops it in the toilet or something because I didn't spend a fortune on them. I'm hoping it will work like sunglasses. Buy a ton of the cheap ones and you'll never lose them even if you try but buy a pair of expensive ones and, well, you know what happens. Wish us luck. I truly hope she cooperates and I don't have to actually hot-glue them to her head :)

Playtopia

Yes, MORE pictures of Quincy. It is a blog for her of course! We dragged Marshal (Daddy) out of the house for Keegan's nachos and a trip to Tumbleweed park. Today was just perfect weather for some fresh air. Quincy has been to parks many times before, but today was the first day she was REALLY into it. She was having so much fun, especially when she got to hang out where the big kids were. She's already trying to grow up too fast. When it was time to go, she threw a fit.

She's also began to include some new words into her vocab.
Bubble
Waffle
No, MINE! (not sure how to handle that one quite yet! Any advice is welcome!)
Stuck

Her first sentences:
"Bye Daze" (When we leave for school in the mornings)
"Uh, oh. Mine!"

Oh, and yes, I already redesigned the blog. I don't know what's wrong with me but nothing is ever good enough! I'll probably redesign it 50 times. I just felt like it needed something more cheerful. And, I just don't like sleep :)

Early Birds

As usual, Quincy and I were up at the crack of dawn. With not much going on on a cloudy Saturday morning, I decided to practice some more photography all the while enjoying my time with Miss Q-tee. Here are the fruits of my labor. She is so darn hard to get pictures of! I swear, I am going to forget what she looks like because all I ever see is the back of her head!

These are a few of my favorite things...

For some reason, the sweetest thing is seeing a child cuddle with their "special" toy. Quincy has a small little pink bear that she absolutely loves. She hasn't had a night without it yet (somehow we've managed to keep track of it). I have to wonder how long she will be attached to it, but for now, I am fine with it. It gives me such joy to see her get comfort from her little bear. She also has a quilt from her Grammy with photos of her favorite people all over it. It was her Christmas gift this year and she has to get it off the couch and spread it on the floor every night. I love to watch her grab the quilt, pillows and Daddy's hand when she's ready for some rough-housing. It's sort of become a night time ritual! She points to the people on the quilt and says, "What's Dat?" It's so fun to go through everyone with her and watch her reaction to the familiar faces. These are the things she'll have forever :)

Happy Campers - Harquahala 2009

We had a blast! The weather was beautiful and I actually sort of thought the desert looked pretty for once. We didn't do too much. Of course, the group went on a few rides, but we stayed back for the most part. Galen & Tessi got to shoot guns, ride quads and Galen even got to drive Uncle Marshal's truck (shhhh... don't tell Kevin!) Luckily, it was Marshal who did damage to his truck, not Galen :) Tessi proves to be quite a lead-foot. Seven more years until we are all in jeopardy on the roads! Once again, Tessi was the highlight of the trip for Quincy. No offense Grammy. She just looks up to Tess like she's a superstar. It's so adorable. It was also Grammy's birthday today so it was nice to be able to celebrate with her.

I'm still working on the photography thing so I suckered the kiddos into being my guinea pigs. I'm a long ways from good, but here are some of my experiments.

Thank you everyone for a wonderful weekend!

Love the cousins together. If only there weren't a cactus growing out of Galen's head! I'll have to work on that.

Quincy only wanted to be with Tess.

Good morning! The "girls" were playing on Tessi's bed, looking out the window, soaking up the sunrise.

Good Vibes

I just have to say my latest favorite song is Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours". I heard it again on my way into work this morning and it puts me in a good mood every time I hear it. Poor Quincy has to hear me sing to it often. She usually claps when I'm done... Is she trying to tell me something? :)

Decisions, Decisions

With the economy taking such a turn, it is really starting to hit home. It is becoming evident with all the empty shopping strip malls and people being laid off that we all need to do what we can to get through this slow down. As a result, Marshal and I decided it would be best for our pocketbook and my job security for me to return to work full-time. Ahhhhh. I can't say either of us is completely comfortable with it but luckily I have an employer who is wonderful and allows me the flexibility to go in early and leave at 3.

The hardest thing for me will be not seeing Quincy standing up in her crib, babbling on and on in the mornings. So many mornings I have been woken up with an "Uh, Oh" coming through the baby monitor. So precious. Now, Marshal will be getting her ready and taking her to daycare. At least they will have some more bonding time together. :)

Lazy Sunday

This weekend has been very non-eventful for once. We barely left the house. Today, Marshal got Quincy up and dressed and took her to Home Depot with him so I could get some much needed sleep. She was up at 4 AM, WIDE AWAKE so we watched Sesame Street and went back to bed around 7. The rest of the day we just hung out at home. I took her out front to draw on the driveway with chalk but she found the plants and rocks much more interesting. I did some more experimenting with the camera. All I can say is that even Photoshop couldn't help that much, but I will get better!

I Tot I Taw a Kunk

I did! I did see a kunk! This was Quincy dressed up in her Halloween costume about a month after Halloween. We spent Halloween 08 at the Forest Houses in Sedona but by the time we got into the cabin, she was too worn out to get dressed up. We had gone to the Out of Africa zoo all day. So, I had to dress her in her costume at some point, even if it was for five minutes so I could snap a few shots. She acutally didn't mind the costume too bad, until I put on the hat of course.

Quincy Chronicles

At daycare, one of her teachers names is "Ms. Azra". One morning when I dropped her off, Ms. Azra told me that the day before she heard a little voice yelling "Azzzzra!" "Azzzzra!" She turned around and it was Quincy! She said it was the first time a child called her name like that in that age group. So cute.

The same morning Ms. Azra also showed me a class poster they were putting together to hang in the hallway and Quincy was the "star". They put Quincy's picture large, right in the middle of the poster with a caption by it. Quincy was playing with sponges in water in the photo. When I picked her up that afternoon, her other teacher asked if I saw the poster and the Daycare manager also asked if I saw it. They all sounded so proud of it :) I'm convinced she's their favorite, but of course, we're a little biased, huh?

Lastly, yesterday morning, she was playing with her little (well, pretty big) house. When it was time to go to daycare, she got upset when I tried to take her away from it. She carried it by herself all the way out to the car. She somehow managed to hold onto it as I lifted her into her car seat and she played with it all the way to school. Luckily, when we got there, she dropped it and forgot about it. I was convinced she was going to insist on bringing it in for show & tell!

12/18/08
All of the sudden, she is spouting out words! She is such a little copycat so Daddy will have to watch his potty mouth :) This weekend she said:
toe
sock (saaaaawwww)
fish
tutu (when we put on her Christmas Tutu - send you pics soon)
bite (biiiiii)
eat
dog
daisy (it actually sounds like it now)
outside (side)

Christmas 2008 (See, back in time!)

I forgot I wanted to post some pics from this Christmas. I don't have a lot seeing as Quincy was pretty sick over the holiday with a high fever on Christmas Eve through Christmas Day. She had a terrible ear infection since Halloween. She got tubes put in her ears a few days after Christmas and she is SO much better. They have helped tremendously! Anyway, here are just a few pictures from Christmas 2008.

Her Grammy Nevarez made her a special photo quilt with all her family members pictures on it. She LOVES it. She makes me spread it flat on the floor and she crawls and rolls around on it. She points out the pictures and says "What's that?". Now, every time she watches TV, she has to have the quilt laid out to sit on. It's absolutely beautiful and will be so special. Thanks Grammy!

Ahhhh, the infamous Santa photo. Well, this photo makes me look like such a terrible, cruel mother! She was happy as could be for the TWO HOURS we waited in line to see Santa. The second she was sat on his lap and she looked up at him, she freaked but the second she was taken off his lap, she was a smiles again. I swear!
